Rainy morning

Funny thing happened yesterday. We played some football down at the football field with the guys and ended the training with some penalty shots. Behind the goal was a 10-15m high fence and behind the fence there's a river. So, Victor prepares himself for a shot. He does the usual, kicks as hard as he can. But this time his right shoe flew off when he kicked, the shoe soared over the fence and landed straight in the river! We watched it go with the stream down and we laughed our heads off!

No skiing today again.

6.15 a.m. Friday Morning

No skiing today! Warm during the night and too windy on the top, went out in the morning but we realized that the gondel wasn't on so we sat down and waited for info from our coaches. After a few good laughs at different stories it came and we went back in and for a second breakfeast. Turns out to be a dryland day instead!

Is it only me or can you see that it's an early morning?

Have a fun day!

Tight fight for the first timetraining titlebelt!

Hey guys and girls!

Got a stupid flu here in Zermatt, had to take an extra day off today. That's never fun, hate being sick on camps! But I skied the first 3 days slalom. Trained one day with Benni Raich, was fun to compare a little against such a good skier! We were skiing quite the same times, he was just a touch faster. But for my slalom that's a big improvement being so close to him after only 3 slalom days. Next time I'll try to be faster than him! Benni 1 - Mare 0. Not for long! ;)
On Monday we had our first timetraining with our boys, always fun and there was a little excitement in the air! Samu asked if it's only him who has to take an extra piss before the start, but apparently not!  Everybody wants to be the fastest and all of us seems to be in good shape, feels like our team is strong! Luckily I managed to be fastest in the first training. Today I think Victor was the fastest, even though Benni was skiing with us. Would have been fun to be on the slope today! I missed a good race up there!

Tommorrow I hope I'll be able to train again, supposed to do some GS! I'm going to try to put some videos here as soon as I learn how to do it! I'm not too good with computers.. ;)

Going through technical things over the radio with Sliva. Our experienced assistantcoach Pasi Laitakari working on his Goggle-tan with the radio!

Golf at Vihti!

Played a round of golf at Vihti today with good friends. Was fun and nice but man, I suck at golf! :) Some swings are good but some are really bad. But I don't really care, for me it's more to go and hang out with friends and have some fun!

My cousin Oscar showing off his swing. He played a good round, even though I tried to psyche him. Luckily I managed to psyche the other Oscar so bad he messed up a hole. :)

Our round ended so late that we just got our pizzas but the place closed so we had to eat them by the cars. Good way to end the day!

Enjoy!

Gs is cool.

The Finnish Team on a small break between runs at our office above the clouds.

Left to rigth: Kalle 'Oldie' Palander, Samu 'Thirsty' Torsti, Andy 'Deffi' Romar, Victor 'Stekaren' Malmström and me. :) I guess our young boy Santeri Paloniemi is skiing 'cos hes not here!

On the snow again!

Hey from Zermatt!

I came here on Sunday evening when there was a cool thunderstorm, so unfortunately the first day we we're supposed to go skiing the glacier wasn't open. So we made two fysical trainings instead. But today the lift was open and I got my first touch to the snow with the gs skis after a long and sweaty summer! The surface was quite easy so it was a easy and fun way to start skiing. Made some freeskiing first, getting a feeling to the snow again and concentrating on the right position for me. When I found it and had a good feeling and fun I made a few runs on the course.
We have a little bigger team this year than before, more young guys and we are training together with the EC team atleast until Sölden. It's also good to have Kalle back! Now we actually can play football again on the camps! Last year it was a little difficult 'cos I was training alone... We're staying here for a week still and then home for about a 10 day break and then back here again. Fun but early wake-ups at 5.15.

My summer was good and relaxing! I managed to train really well, was sick only once for a few days. My body feels a lot better again and I'm happy that I've gotten my strenght and stamina back. I just need to take good care of my back and then there won't be any problems! I was quite a lot at my familys summer cottage in Sipoo and at my girlfriends in Lappohja. It's easy to train from there, good gyms and sport tracks close by. But it was a little extra sweaty this summer 'cos of the heat! Didn't bother me otherwise so much that it was so warm! Had a lot of fun and I think there's still some left of it.. :)

Enjoy!
