Maybe tomorrow?

Tomorrow it's back down to the Alps again. Actually I was supposed to fly today already but when I got to the airport we realized with our coach Pasi that our flight was booked for Sunday 27th of March instead of February! Too late to change the tickets and all the offices are closed on Sunday's anyways. So the bag back in the car, drove back home and we're going to try again tomorrow! Wish us luck! It was a pretty beautiful spring day here so it wasn't that bad... :)

Hear you from the road!

10th place today!

Awesome! A fun day today again. Thanks to Hinterstoder I had a little better number today, 25. The first run was pretty okay, skied well on the top but didn't really catch the speed to the flat. On the 2nd I was pushing and made a small mistake just before the steep but otherwise it wen't well. I'm glad that I got two active runs,  going to continue with that! I can't get enough of the feeling crossing the finish line on the 2nd run, and seeing the scoreboard with my name up highest. Can't wait for Kranjska Gora!

Congrats to Ted, Cyprien and Phillipp! Great skiing!

Thanks!

Hello Garmisch!

Arrived here in Garmisch yesterday, had a day off today with boot fixing, press conference and body 'healing'! Tomorrow we're going training somewhere up on the mountain and at the same time cheering for Tanja! She's starting with number 2! Found out our numbers also. I'm starting 26, Kalle 27, Samu 36 and Andy 37! Keep those numbers in mind!

This week!

From Hinterstoder I went to Kranjska Gora. Drank a beer in the evening and it tasted extra good, I realized also that I was really tired after the long long GS. 2 minutes and 50 seconds of attacking, heart rate over 170 bpm and muscles working hard and getting tired! Those races are where the summers training pays off! So my Monday I spent resting and recovering.

Tuesday I skied GS in Sella Nevea with Victor and Samu. It's a pretty cool place, but it's pretty much in the middle of nowhere. From Tarvisio 25 minutes into the mountains! But the slope is turny and a little steep and I like that. Wednesday we trained slalom in Tarvisio, had a 2 weeks break in slalom but it felt pretty okay! After lunch I made a gym training and then we left for Venezia with Ville, our assistant coach. We had a day off the next day and were anyway driving past it on our way here to Monte Pora so we thought why not?! Walked around there Thursday morning and it's a maze! We got lost a few times between the houses on the small streets, but it was a beautiful place. Especially when it was sunny and +15 degrees!

They have really cool and beautiful taxi boats there. I wish I had one of those at home!

Then we arrived here in Monte Pora. Today we had an EC GS race but I skied out. Shit happens. It was really warm, probably +10 degrees on the second run. And tomorrow we have a EC SL race, in that one I hope to score a good result! This weekend, even though it's not normal for me, the SL race is the more important one. Then it's back to sweet home Kranjska Gora and prepare for the bumpy ride in Garmisch!

See ya!

7th!

Finally I managed with what I've been trying to do the whole season! Get a result in the World Cup. It hasn't been easy for me. My whole body wen't through a change and I almost already started to think if my body and mind isn't strong enough for the tough conditions in the WC anymore. But screw that thought!! :) Now I proved to myself I can do it and it felt good!

I was really happy after today, I love the feeling crossing the finish line in the 2nd run and coming in on first place! I missed that a lot and enjoyed it a lot today. Can't wait for the next race!

Thanks for the nice wishes!

On the road again!

I’m sitting in the Audi close to Altenmarkt and I’m restless. Bob Marley is singing about freedom on Ö3 and it’s completely dark outside. We’re on our way to Kranjska Gora. I’m feeling excited! My stay at home did good. I realized that I was pretty tired and that my back and deeper hip muscles we’re pretty messed up. Tony and Tero at SUF did a good job opening them up and softening them. Felt pretty weird when I had a hand pressing through my stomach and touching muscles directly connected to my spine!

I concentrated on gym training at home. On the road I try to do at least one gym training per week, rather two if possible. But it’s been difficult when I’ve been racing so much. Feels strange after last season when I got in the rhythm of making 3-4 per week, but I had a lot of work on that side at the time and only the race at the Olympics. I like working at the gym, gives me self-confidence and a good feeling!

Even though it was mostly gym training, I went for a run on the ice outside my home. It was cool and the scenery was beautiful!

After hopefully some good GS training days in Kranjska, we’re going to Hinterstoder on Friday. Watch Andy score some points in SG on Saturday and then it’s our turn on Sunday!

Have a nice day!
