Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas to all! Here's a GS training run from the Gran Risa. The start was a little higher than the race day!

Came home to Helsinki last night and it's sure isn't a White Christmas here! That means no ice hockey outside, but maybe fishing instead! :)

Alta Badia didn't go as planned. I'm not satisfied with my 21st place, even though something is better than nothing. In my runs I was in a hurry, tried to start the turns too early and not leaving me any space to work up my speed.  GS is a lot about rhythm and I didn't have it. So in training I'll focus on that and then kill it in Adelboden!

Those were my last slaloms with a really high number! I will concentrate on bettering my points in FIS races and then continue on the WC SL tour when my number's in shape!

Merry Christmas to everyone!
Marcus

The trip continues.

Tomorrow I'm heading to Italy! Sii, bueno food and the Dolomites. And of course Alta Badia's coming up! A nice 10 days trip before a short Christmas holiday!

It was a nice weekend at home. Wen't fishing with my friend Joe on a nearby lake, it snowed sideways and got a little stormy plus the water was filled with ice so it was extreme fishing!

12th and the weekend in Helsinki!

12th place! I made a bit too many mistakes, but I know my speed is good so I'm happy with these two races here in Beaver Creek! And it's fun to start in the top 15. I'm looking forward to my first bib draw in Alta Badia! Started two times before in top 15 but both times there hasn't been a bib draw! It's always fun with a first.. :)

So tomorrow I'm flying back home to Helsinki for the weekend! Maybe I'll get the chance to make a last fishing trip before the sea freezes to ice!

Hear ya from Helsinki!

5th!

Yeah! I wasn't so happy with my first run, even though it was clean. Just too smooth! In the second I got a good tempo from top and just pushed all the way down. Resulted in 5th place and some really exciting moments waiting for the other racers to come down! There's a lot of good GS skiers at the moment and it makes racing very interesting. So let's have some fun on Tuesday again!

It's heavy skiing so long and intense runs at 3000 meters. Tomorrow I'm going to rest so my legs feel good on the next race! Congrats to Marcel, Ted and Fritz!

Thanks for the support and cheers!

Beaver Creek!

Beaver Creek! It's always nice to arrive to the race venues. Get that good and excited race feeling! Arrived here on Tuesday evening, it was nice to see the other half of our team, DH Andy again! Even though he was a little tired and jealous of my 'easy' GS program. And I do rub it in his nose most of the time... :) In an hour the DH starts, GO ANDY!

It's amazing how even the bananas are bigger on the other side of the Atlantic.

Tomorrow I hope we have the GS slope inspection after the mens SG. I always like those, and it's good to see the surface so we can prepare the setup right. I've heard it's in great condition!

For the Finnish speaking readers here's a video from Sampo Pankki's Alppikanava. Kalle and I go through some basics in GS.
