What a rush! I was the forerunner for a ladies DH on a perfect slope in Sella Nevea. It was intense! Not maybe Kitz but with my amount of speed training it was a good start. I need to higher my speed-limit and with it learn to control the timing of the turn. Another run tomorrow and then towards GAP! This Sunday Andy doesn't have to race alone.. :)
I was a few days home last week and it was relaxing, as always! Had a nice supper with the ADT doping controllers one night. They knocked on the door just before dinner.. :) Didn't know I should have made dinner for 4!
I didn't ski one single turn GS this week, that's rare for me! Skied some SG and SL here in Tarvisio. Was really fun to use those longer skis again, it was only the second time for me this year. I'm going to train more and start some WC also!
Played some ice hockey last night and tested out Fischer's new SX3 stick. Lightweight and awesome! Brings me one step closer to Salo's Howitzer, but there's still a bit left to go... haha!
We've got a sunny drive to Germany ahead, got two FIS slaloms there the next days. Then I'm flying home!
I can't say I'm happy with my 17th place on Saturday. I had fast upper parts on both runs but unfortunately my power and aggression ended half way down. I've never been so tired in the finish! A tough Adelboden with a flu isn't a good combo.. I'm a little pissed. But that's racing sometimes... Can't wait for Bansko to get back in the game.
We drove a nice circle through Europe the last few days! Radstadt - Adelboden - Tarvisio, where I'm at the moment. The weather was everything from pouring rain that cleaned the car, snowstorm so we couldn't see more than 5 meters ahead and then sunny and +16c on the way through Italy! Tomorrow I'm skiing some slalom and the next few days super-g! I have 2 SG races and 2 SL races later this week. Let's go Faaast!
I had a nice time at home, even though we almost got blown away! Not really the normal Christmas weather, raining and windy. But it was relaxing anyway.. :) Hope everyone has got their electricity back!
I went to check out my old homeslope in Kauniainen, I hope they get some snow there soon. Even though we have one of the smallest slopes in Finland we have the biggest ski school, so I've heard there's a lot of eager young skiers waiting for it to open!
I'm in Reiteralm at the moment and the conditions are challenging. It's been snowing and it's difficult to find a slope hard enough for training! If I were a tourist I'd be more than happy at the moment, but I need ice. :) On Thursday we're leaving for Adelboden. I caught a small flu in Finland, hope it get's better till Saturday!
Here's a cool GoPro clip from the Downhill in Bormio!
